In Hubei, China, the Fujacks worm or Whboy’s creators are facing charges which can put the men behind bars for a good five years. The Chinese worm coder, Li Jun (25 year-old), confessed to have sold the worm to various clients for $12 500 (94 500 yuan).
The worm is capable of converting icons of infected programs into a picture of a panda burning joss sticks (incense sticks burned before Chinese religious symbols and ancestors) as it steals user names and passwords from online game players. Millions of computers in China were also affected by the rather cute panda appearing in 400 different forms.
A gamer’s username and password are extremely valuable as 40% of the gamers use the same combination for their online bank accounts, online and coporate logons. I know it’s convenient but it’s better to have different passwords for different purposes. Prevention is always better, right?
