FullTilt Poker Tips

You know it’s weird that Phil Hellmuth appeared in a Full Tilt Poker video, but I guess he has a deal worked out with his sponsors to give him this freedom. In this video, the pros mainly talk about aggressive amateur play against them. Their main critique seems to be the amateurs are trying to pull their own moves against them in tournaments and picking the wrong spots to do so.

I understand where they’re coming from, but it comes across more as a whining video than it does poker tips. No Limit Poker is a wild game, but these guys are the best in the business so they should be able to handle amateurs coming at them from all angles. True, sometimes they’re going to get busted by bad calls, bad beats, or lucky plays but last time I checked that’s what comes with No Limit Hold’em.

If you’ve kept up with this blog, you can tell I’m no fan of whining. To me, as long as your within the rules of the game, you can do whatever you want to do and I’m not going to complain about it. My feeling is if you’re playing bad, I’m probably going to burn you. If I don’t, then I either got bad beat (part of the game) or I didn’t play as well as I should have.

The problem I have with the pros is they want people to play the way they expect them to – what they think is “good poker”. Again, if someone plays bad, bust them. If you can’t, then maybe you’re not so great yourself. If I play “bad” and it frustrates you, then I might play “bad” just to get under your nerves.
