Game Of The Week — NFL Week 2

September 11, 2008 by Lyndsey D'Arcangelo

Every week, from here on out, throughout the 2008-2009 football season I am going to pick a “Game of the Week.”

The purpose of this post is to talk about a match-up that I think is the most significant out of all the scheduled NFL games that are going to be played the following Sunday.

After looking at the schedule, my pick for the Game of the Week is …

New England Patriots at New York Jets

Sunday, 4:15 p.m. — CBS

Reasons Why:

1. I think the most obvious reason to watch this game is the missing link of the Patriots Tom Brady. Will his football team be able to carry on successfully without him? How will they perform under the extra pressure without their fearless leader? tombradyhurt_nc.jpg

2. The New York Jets have already showed us that they are a different team than last year simply because of the addition of Brett Favre. They are more confident with him at the helm and it’s safe to say that they aren’t scared of the Patriots by any means, especially with Tom Brady out.

3. The AFC East is a wide open division now. And the Bills, the Jets and the Patriots all have a fair shot at winning it. (Can’t say the same for the Dolphins as of yet.)

4. Matt Cassell. He helped to pull out the win against Kansas City last week but how will he do this week? I think everyone is curious about him now and asking the same questions — can he be the back-up QB that the Patriots need him to be?

  1. Hey Lyndsey – this is Robert from BlueStatePrison – Check out my sports news site ProSportsBuzz.com

Anyway – good pick for the game of the week. I always thought that Brady was overrated. I think I will be proved right when the Pats do just fine this season with out him. I believe that any DECENT QB in the NFL can get behind NE’s O Line and put up the same numbers.

Peyton IS the team. Farve WAS the team. Brady is good but not GREAT – and NOT the team.

    Lets watch and see….

  2. Great idea for a “series,” Lyndsey :)

I love this idea, and couldn’t agree more with your pick. I’m a Packer fan myself, but it’s nice to see Brett in green again. He’s exciting to watch, that’s for sure.
