Garmin G1000 Simulator?

The latest release of X-Plane (currently 8.50 RC-1) has built in support to use a real Garmin G1000 connected to the simulator! The G1000 has an ethernet port that you can use to connect the Garmin to your computer. Then from within X-Plane you can turn on the hardware option for the G1000 and use the real G1000 hardware within X-Plane. Cool! Now if I could only afford a G1000….

  1. I don’t think you need to afford the entire G1000 solution — I expect you’d just need to purchase the two LCD screens. Those aren’t going to be cheap, but it must be significantly less expensive than purchasing the entire G1000 avionics solution.

no those screens are not cheap even though the whole garmin package costs up to 70000, to replace those screens is 2000 a piece

First you must be a Garmin dealer in order to purchase the G1000 suite. Try about 25k for the hardware and that is just the beginning. Integration to the software is not easy at all.
Also X-Plane integration is not fully supported.

If someone can develop a Garmin 1000 plug-in like this from Mindstar(FSX) for X-Plan than you can get a cheaper solution.

See SimKits. They have replicated the Garmin 1000. TRC-1000 for $7000 euro. http://www.simkits.com
