Gas Station TV and Toyota announced the launch of “Prius Neighborhood” on Monday. Prius Neighborhood is a unique TV program that broadcasts consumer-generated information on Gas Station TV. First of all, you might not know about Gas Station TV, so let me clear that up first.
Gas Station TV is broadcast to consumers on at-the-pump screens as they get gas at fuel stations across the country. It has proven to be a good time to captivate customers with information and advertising for those four or five minutes of natural pause in their day.
The new Prius Neighborhood allows consumers to submit local grassroots and community charity event details for potential airing. Once the information is entered into the Gas Station TV website and reviewed, it is added to the rotation of local events at the pump. The information is also stored and searchable by zip code on the site.
The Prius Neighborhood TV segments and the local event listings will be watched by over a million daily viewers of Gas Station TV across the country. As a complement to the Prius Neighborhood content, Toyota will run 15-second Prius ads and other Prius content.
Prius Neighborhood is part of the marketing campaign for the 2010 third-generation Prius. The campaign has social media components as well. The events are posted to regional Twitter pages @GSTVevents. Also Facebook users can become fans of Prius Neighborhood and link to the event submission page through a special Prius Neighborhood app which can be added as a tab to user profiles.
“Our Prius customers are very involved in their communities,” said Kim McCullough, corporate manager of marketing communications for Toyota. “For the launch of the third-generation Prius, we wanted to give them an innovative tool to help promote the philanthropic and community events they’re passionate about.”
At the pump is a very logical place for Toyota to try to get more information out to consumers about the Toyota Prius Hybrid.
