It’s the Germans in front after the cross-country event, the second phase of the equestrian eventing competition. They are followed by Australia and Great Britain.
The rain-soaked course proved challenging to the horses and riders. In fact, none finished within the time limit, so leaders were determined by who had the fewest penalty points.
The Germans also lead the individual eventing standing. Hinrich Peter Romeike (pictured above) and Ingrid Klimke lead the field, followed by Australians Megan Jones and Clayton Fredericks. American Gina Mills is in fifth place.
Equestrian eventing continues on Tuesday with the jumping phase of the competition.
