Get Your Teams Talking to Each Other

November 2, 2006 by Eric Eggertson

The success of one business unit at the expense of another is a too familiar tale in companies, non-profits and government agencies.

Susan Getgood describes the dilemma:

“The measures of success of each function — lead volumes, sales quotas, DSOs, call volumes etc etc. – become their primary goals. In the trenches, the teams lose sight of the macro organizational goals – Revenue and Profitability. And they lose sight of the fact that they are all on the same overall team, the company.” (emphasis mine)

She has excellent suggestions for ways to get the sales team talking to the marketing team. Her post is a year old, but still as valid as ever.
