Do you have a fear of being told “NO” when you present your business to someone? Have you been trying to get to the “YES” when applying for a job? Then I have some encouragements for you that can help you “Get past the NO to the YES!”
- Listening for the “need” opportunity that you can fill. What this means is that you need to listen for what is needed and then position yourself to fill that need with your experience.
- Identify yourself as the solution to their problem. Once you figure out the need then explain how you can be the solution that they are looking for. Do this by not only sharing your strengths but also share how your strengths can help their business become stronger.
- Be personable. You need to show that you can relate to others and others can relate to you. Build on your ability to be a team player while at the same that you are able to lead a team. Maybe you are a business owner and you are trying to win a project then it would be best for you to communicate how your customer service works and how it would be beneficial to your potential client.
- Make sure you follow-through. When you have completed communicating with the potential client or interviewing, make sure that you follow-through by at least thanking them for their time. Help them to see that you not only are thankful for the opportunity to share about yourself but that you are also thankful that they took the time to listen to you.
- Do a self-evaluation. When you have finished presenting, then complete a self-evaluation of how you did. Create a list of the Pros and Cons of how things went so that you can improve your efforts. This is a way to help yourself improve for the next time.
- Don’t grow weary. Whether you hear yes the first time or you have to continue on, don’t grow weary in the process. Find ways to keep the whole process exciting and educational where you are constantly evolving. Make note of what works and what doesn’t, then improve in that area. As you continue on, find ways to strengthen your resolve to be successful.
Please keep in mind that in order to be successful at “getting passed the No to the YES” that you need to make sure that you are a good fit. If you are not the type of person who mixes well in a group setting then don’t try for an opportunity that centers on group settings. You should position yourself for success by looking for opportunities where you can thrive. Or if you are a business owner and you learn about an opportunity that may require a large team to handle it, don’t go after the opportunity if you don’t have a way to put a team together to meet the needs of the opportunity.
It all boils down to being smart so that you don’t have to work hard. What are some other ways that you have been success at getting past NO to YES? Please feel free to share your feedback.
