The award is up-to $10k and will “be applied toward tuition and other educational expenses at the school at which the student is currently enrolled, and an optional paid internship of up to 10 weeks at Sony Online Entertainment’s headquarters in San Diego, California (room, board, transportation and living expenses not included), to work on the upcoming online video game Free Realms™.”

“There are a significant number of women who are gamers, but not enough working in the video game field,” said Torrie Dorrell, Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing, Sony Online Entertainment. “With the application process starting today, we’re taking a concrete step toward opening the door a little wider for women who want to go into game development.”

I wonder how many game developers are black? I wonder why they are not in a position to extend such a reward to those who I am sure represent next to nothing in the video gaming industry. Its always about ‘The women’, yet. ‘The women’ make up more than half of college students these days. Yup, they surely do need a lot of support. Well, Sony will not receive any support from me. Until they realize that the word ‘equality’ begins with being EQUAL. Not handing out free rides to those based on how they were born or what color they are. Everyone should have an equal chance. Nothing more, nothing less.
