Glen Davis, known more commonly as Big Baby, has re-signed with the Boston Celtics. His deal is worth approximately $6 million over two seasons.
Although Davis played very well last year in the playoffs, he didn’t get any big offers this offseason due largely to the fact that he was a restricted free agent. With the Celtics saying they planned to keep him, Davis decided to take a two-year deal that will allow him to be an unrestricted free agent at the conclusion of the contract.
In the regular season last year, Davis averaged seven points and four rebounds in 21.5 minutes per contest. In the playoffs, with Kevin Garnett and Leon Powe sidelined with injuries, Davis averaged 15.8 points and 5.6 rebounds in 36.4 minutes per game.
This upcoming season, Davis will provide quality depth off the bench. With Garnett, Kendrick Perkins and Rasheed Wallace likely ahead of him in the rotation, Davis will have to play well to carve out a consistent spot in the daily lineup. As he showed in the playoffs, the 23-year-old is definitely capable.
