GM Makes U-Turn Out Of Bankruptcy
– Former ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ Star To Lead Newly Configured Company –
General Motors emerged from bankruptcy today and, according to the Associated Press, the company has “ambitions of making money and building cars people are eager to buy.”
Which is a lot like saying Amy Winehouse is checking out of rehab with ambitions of not doing anymore crack and wearing make-up people are eager to mimic.
Good luck to both of you.
Of course, GM has a little bit more going for it than Amy since the car company was able to get the government to hand the proverbial sh*t end of the stick to taxpayers who got stuck with bad debts, crappy union pension contracts and cars that are going to be designed with one eye on style and one eye on pleasing Congress.
I don’t want to get all negative here, but I’d keep the cleaning crew on at the bankruptcy courtroom because it’s a pretty good chance it won’t be long before GM’s making another appearance with some new excuses about how tough it is to be the world’s number one car maker.
In brighter news, General Motors announced that their new CEO would be the dude who played Taggart in the Beverly Hills Cop movies. Suh-weet!
