Gmail Time Sink?

I love Gmail as my webmail application of choice, but Outlook gives me all the other things that I’m interested in for managing more of my business specific e-mail needs.
There’s not really a comparison in my book between these two applications. The biggest common denominator is that they’re both e-mail tools.
Do you get distracted when you’re checking your Gmail though? I’ve never really thought about it really, but Michael McCracken seems to have a problem focusing and BurgerBlog has written a tiny browser to help him out.
This really isn’t a problem for me. At least I don’t think it is. Gmail interface is pretty minimalistic and I don’t get too caught up in having multiple windows open. In fact, my normal working arrangement is a few Firefox windows open with multiple tabs in each, and a IE6 window or two open with the Yahoo! Toolbar giving me tab functionality in the browser.
But, if this type of thing is for you, then it’s probably right up your alley right?
