Good bye, Sega. Hello, Ngmoco.
Well, that’s what Simon Jeffrey is saying anyway. The [now former] President and COO of Sega has been snatched up by the iPhone/iPod Touch game maker Ngmoco to be their Chief Publishing Officer [CPO?].
Ngmoco makes games like Rolando, Stardefense and Word Fu. Not only have their games been wildly popular but from their website:
We’re commissioning, financing & publishing games with micro-studios & independent developers.
So, not only are they big time, but they are asking to work with the “little guys” and I think that’s freakin’ sweet. I have nothing but respect for a company who is willing to help the game community out and produce a great product at the same time.
Maybe Simon Jeffrey feels the same way? Only he knows for sure but I think this a great move for him. I can’t wait to see what he brings to Ngmoco.
