So there was a lot of hoopla–to which we, of course, contributed–about the Boston Red Sox jersey buried in the new Yankee Stadium. And despite our rationale as to why the New York Yankees should have let the David Ortiz shirt rest in peace, we’re pretty impressed with the outcome.

(Other things with which we’re impressed: The leather-bound books, rich mahogany flattery showered on us over at AndWhammy! . . . Love the Will Ferrell clip, guys.)

Anyhow, the curse jersey snatched up $175,100 at auction, with the proceeds going to Jimmy Fund, the cancer reasearch charity endorsed by the Sox.

See how Good triumphs over the Evil Empire?
