Google Buys Marratech e-Meeting Software

April 22, 2007 by Jayvee Fernandez

The Google Office continues to take shape. After buying an online presentation creator last week, Google now buys online meeting software from startup Marratech.

Most atypical of this latest Google acquisition is that they didn’t buy a whole company, just a piece of software that requires a desktop client. Google seems partial to hosted Ajax applications for their emerging office suite. Nevertheless, Michael Arrington thinks the Marratech client should be easy to push out to Google’s installed base of desktop applications. It could even give Google Talk the capabilities needed to compete with Skype.

Google already knows a lot about you from watching you surf porn over your shoulder. Imagine what it could learn from sitting in on your meetings.
