Google Earth Goodies: Jobs in Gaming

The Google mapping system is showing no signs of slowing the tidal wave of derivative programs that cover everything from New York Real Estate to colleges and universities. Don’t feel left out gamers, especially if you’re scrounging around for a job in the game industry, because the Game Company Database has created a GoogleMap showing the exact locations of game companies in your area, complete with street address if you feel like stalking them or mailing in your resume.

The maps are restricted to US companies for the moment, but I’m hoping they’ll expand their scope into Canada, the UK and continental Europe, so that we can all scope out international opportunities. The database is fully searchable by zip, city or state and the addictiveness of GoogleMaps makes for an fun time.

Nice, it’s a shame it only covers the US. For example, creators of the Broken Sword series of games Revolution Software are based just around the corner from my house in York.

Hopefully they’ll get it up to date sooner or later. Cool app though.

And as usual everyone forgets about Australia…
