Google Exposes Secret Chinese Submarines

Google Earth has already exposed some things meant to be hidden, but this one may bring more difficulties for Google in its efforts to penetrate the Chinese market. According to researcher Hans Kristensen, Google’s recent satellite pictures show what he he believes is the first photo of the Jin-class submarine, a new class of Chinese ballistic missile submarine.

Kristensen posted the photo on his Strategic Security blog which is a part of the Federation of American Scientists’ website and added the coordinates for 6 more subs as well.

The sub photo made headlines, with a story appearing on the front page of a newspaper called “Global Military Affairs Weekend,” accompanied not by the Google Earth image, but a picture of a sub so old it looks like it fought in World War II. The article stated that the submarine captured by satellite was “China’s newest submarine, the Yuan class.”

Google seems to have no luck when it comes to China and pissing off the Chinese government may mean more hurdles for Google in its attempt to enter this country.
