Google Services, What do People Really Use
While Google keeps on introducing more and more services, the question that comes to mind is, which of these services do people really use?
This question is discussed in a recent HitWise blog post and shows some interesting numbers based on the top 20 domains:
As you can see, search still captures 80% of the visitors, and it looks like Google keeps struggling go beyond that. Considering the fact that both Google Images and News are integrated vertically into the regular SERP’s and therefore (I believe) get majority of the traffic, the rest of the services show less than 10% of the overall visitors.
Should Google keep on trying to become a portal? Should they concentrate on search alone? What do you think?
