Google Spreadsheets Update

I’ve been actively using Google Spreadsheets now for a couple of weeks. Working on a project with someone where we needed to both have access to a spreadsheet of names. I didn’t want us to keep e-mailing the document back and forth and trying to figure out which one was the most updated.
The problem though is that we’re both still using Excel. We’ll copy the Google Spreadsheets down to our local drive if we need to make any major changes to it, or more frequently I’ll manipulate the data I need in Excel and then paste it into the Google Spreadsheets online. Excel is just easier to use in my opinion, and it’s more robust obviously without losing too much in ease of use for some of those robust but basic features.
How many of you are actually using Google Spreadsheets as a significant portion of your work day? What are your challenges? Is it fulfilling it’s core purpose with your activities?
