Google Turned Its Lights Out for Earth Hour

Google, the search engine giant “turned its lights out” in support for the Earth Hour. In my other blog called unpluggedliving, I made a post regarding the Earth Hour 2008.

The familiar white screen on Google Canada search engine home page was replaced by a black background as a sign that they are in support of this great initiative. In their website, they mentioned that making the site in black background does not really save energy because modern displays use the same amount of power regardless of what is displayed. It is more of like symbolism and making people aware of the Earth Hour initiative.

I’m pretty sure however that in their offices, many of their employees turned the lights off during earth hour. I know Google has been keen on going “green” and they welcome such initiatives.
