Former Senator, Vice President and Presidential Candidate, Nobel Peace Prize and Oscar winner, Al Gore has endorsed Barack Obama.

Gore’s endorsement comes 2 weeks after Obama secured the delegates necessary to win the Democratic Primary (and about a week and a half after Senator Hillary Clinton formally suspended her bid for the nomination).

Before a crowd of Obama supporters in Detroit, Michigan, Gore spoke of the importance of elections (something he knows first hand) to all Americans affected by the policies of the Bush Administration.

Alex Conant, GOP spokesman, reaction to the speech was “This election isn’t about changing the past, it’s about changing the future.” He also noted that the 2 Democrats on the 2000 Presidential ticket have: endorsed Senator McCain (Joe Lieberman) and waited until the primary race was completed to endorse Senator Obama.
