Grads 4 Hire

Grads 4 Hire is a creative business developed by college graduates who were looking for opportunities to reconnect with friends, volunteering in the community and work a summer job.graduates2

According to Greenwich Time:

“… Kristen Kelly, 22, and five friends, all Greenwich High School alums and recent college graduates, came up with a way of doing all three at once: They created “Grads 4 Hire,” a temporary agency in which they offer an array of services, from computer lessons to house-sitting, with a pledge to devote an hour to community service for each odd job they receive.

The jobs run the gamut: babysitting, house sitting, pet-sitting, gardening, tutoring, swim lessons, party planning, bar tending, even errand running. Each time one of the young women gets hired, they also log an hour of volunteer time at nonprofit social service agencies, including Meals on Wheels, Neighbor to Neighbor and Greenwich Green and Clean.”

These 6 ladies took initiative to start their own business in a crazy economy. That is very impressive in my opinion. So many people are waiting for something to happen rather than making something happen for them self. This country affords us the opportunity to be creative, to think outside the box and RISK in a big way to create opportunities for ourselves. I share the story of Grads 4 Hire with hope that you will be encouraged to get creative. What is it that you want to do or accomplish? If people continue to tell you “no” or no one calls to offer you a job, than how about creating a job, starting a business for yourself. Go back and read the entire story of Grads 4 Hire. There business is not a fluke. They were intentional. They were clear about what they wanted to do this summer and they made it happen.
