The Moto Grand Prix will come home to the Gran Premi Cinzano de Catelunya Elias this weekend if you’re San Carlo Honda Gresini”s Toni Elias or Grupo Francisco Hernando racer Sete Gibernau. An iconic venue that has seen many a battle between gladiators on their metal steeds, Montmelo is a track where things have often changed during a MotoGP season, and the landscape of the 2009 MotoGP season may change again at this historic race.

Barcelona will be the sixth round of the 2009 season and a special one that provides these racers with a chance to kick start their year in fashion in front of their home fans. Elias’s best finish this season is ninth at Qatar and Jerez, while he had a hard time a Mugello keeping his Honda RC212V package steady and fast and finished 14th. Elias has had a touch of bad luck in his season, so far, but appears ready to get his bike running fast and challenge for the championship. Hopefully, at Montmelo he’ll be able to dial his bike in and give his Spanish fans a race to talk about. His team is confident that the changes they have made to the bike will make a difference in the coming races and are looking to get back in the race for the World Championship.

Grupo Francisco Hernando racer Sete Gibernau will return to the saddle at the Gran Premi Cinzano de Catalunya, despite being about ninety percent. He managed to finish on the podium at Montmelo from 2003 to 2005 and has returned after a fractured collarbone suffered at the Grand Prix de France. The injury did keep this veteran Spanish rider out of the race at Mugello in Italy, but it appears nothing could keep this gentleman from throwing his helmet into the ring in his home race. The energy of his fans and the comfort of a little home cooking could be just the recipe for a win for either of these outstanding and talented riders.

The practice times and race time for the Gran Premi Cinzano de Catalunya are below. Enjoy the race!
