Great Blog Off Tips #20-24

Okay, I give up. My last 5 tips for the Great Blog Off are nowhere to be found. And since of COURSE I didn’t write them down on PAPER, I don’t remember what they were. BUT! Here are 5 tips anyway:

#20: If something is really important, don’t be afraid to write it down in more than one place. I use both my iCal (like Outlook calendar for Mac) and my Franklin Covey planner to record important appointments. And sometimes I even supplement with Post-Its stuck to my computer.

#21: Give yourself 10-15 extra minute to get everywhere. I overheard someone the other day saying that the reason people are stressed when they drive is that they don’t give themselves enough time to get where they’re going. "I’m in in your way," he said, "you just didn’t plan very well." If you give yourself extra travel time, you’ll be both punctual and relaxed when you arrive.

#22: Learn to love prepared food — but don’t live on it exclusively. Heading up a frozen Lean Cuisine is way better than eating nothing at all or eating greasy fast food. Yeah, we should all save money and cook for ourselves, I agree, but sometimes that is simply not realistic. you’ll be more likely to eat regularly and healthily if you keep your fridge (at work and at home) stocked with some quick and easy options that are good for you.

#23: Don’t take things personally. Especially at work, and especially when you’re on deadline, tensions can run high. People snap, they say things to you when they’re really talking to themselves, and they’re just generally not at their best when they’re under a lot of stress. If someone says something snotty to you, let it go. Don’t think about it endlessly, don’t replay it over and over in your head, and don’t hold a grudge. Just remind yourself that the world doesn’t revolve around you so surely there are other things happening in that person’s life, and those other things probably have a lot more to do with an unkind remark than you do.

#24: Let go of perfection. Sometimes getting stuff done is better than doing it perfectly. Like, if I’m bleeding profusely, I’d rather you grab a rumpled teeshirt from the back seat of your car and apply pressure to my wound than spend 20 minutes trying to find sterile gauze. You dig? You don’t have to be perfect all the time. Life’s more fun imperfect anyway, because there are always ways to improve. And sometimes good enough is good enough.

SO! That wraps up my 24 tips, albeit not in 24 hours.

What tips do you have for reducing stress, cutting clutter, and feeling better? Leave a comment.

One of my friends constantly tells me “perfect is the enemy of good enough.”

  2. Webkinz says:

Instead of relying on frozen lean cuisines you should take a day on the weekend and prepare a lot of food and split it into tupperware containers. Now you have your meals for next 4 -5 days. Store it in the fridge and you have homemade lean cuisines.

It only takes a couple of hours and is realistic.
