Green Bay Packers – Brett Favre – The Legend to Tell the Grandkids

Brett Favre admitted if the Green Bay Packers decided to go in another direction, and he still had the inclination to play, that he might consider playing for another team. He is 99.9% sure that won’t happen. Bob Costas got this comment out of him. Briefly the Sun and all the planets, including the demoted Pluto, stopped revolving around Lambeau field.

Brett Favre is one of those players that has transcended the team he plays for. Brett belongs to the whole NFL, not just the Green Bay Packers. He is one of the Legends that you will catch yourself telling your nine year old grandkid, Little Bobby.

“Oh, yeah, Little Bobby, Brett came out guns ablazin’. Passes flying hither and yon. Always wearing that smile on his face, brought about by all of the sheer fun that playing NFL Football can bring to a person.”, you will say.

Think about it. It is a chance to use “ablazin’, hither, yon, and sheer” all in the same paragraph.

Little Bobby will ask, “Did he win any Super Bowls?”
“Super Bowl XXXI in a 35-21 victory over the New England Patriots and he did it in the Louisiana Superdome close to where he grew up.”, you will exclaim.

Little Bobby will ask, “What about Pro Bowls?”
“Eight times”, you will reply.

Then he will fire the questions at you, because he is 9 and they can do that.
“MVP’s?” “Yes, multiple times”
“Packer records?” “Yes, Passing yards, tds, completions, attempts, oh and career wins and consecutive starts“
“What is consecutive starts?” “It is how many times in a row you were a starter for your team without missing any games. Brett is just tough.”, you will reply. (Squibster note: streak is at 241 games counting playoffs going into 2006 season)
“NFL records?” “A slew of them and he is close to the record in many other categories”, you say.

“But Grandpa, nobody can be that good. Didn’t it make you mad when he played your Lions?”
“No, Bobby. It was like watching Picasso paint a picture or Mark Spitz swim the butterfly or Tiger Woods hit a golf ball. You just had to enjoy it, besides he seemed to be enjoying it so much”, you tell Bobby.
“Grandpa?” “Yes?” you ask.
“Well, Tiger is that guy on the Seniors tour, but who is that swim guy and the painter dude?”

Bizarre NFL Football Happenings Detroit Defensive line coach Joe Cullen is arrested for driving nude down Michigan Avenue. :) Better start paying closer attention to those dreams where you find yourself naked.
