Green Billboards

People are now buying billboards to really send a message. I’m not sure how I feel about this. Billboards and the environment themselves seem to be so juxtaposed…
In any case, they do make you think.
The billboard above is an example of an advertisement specifically promoting green practices, and it is sponsored by an environmental group. However, there is also a push for major companies to “green” their billboards. It seems a bit like greenwashing to me, but the concept is interesting.
For example, there’s a South African billboard sponsored by Eskom lit up with just a single light. The message it illuminates? “Use electricity wisely” – along with Eskom’s name and logo.
Then there’s the new McDonald’s billboard promoting their fresh salads. The words are made out of real lettuce.
