GTA Exclusive to PS3

GTA

According to Game Insider, one of the most popular series on the go at the moment has been grabbed by Sony for exclusive release on the PS3. I have no idea how they managed to secure exclusive rights to Grand Theft Auto, perhaps someone over there at Rockstar was a little too amped up on coffee. I’m of the opinion that exclusivity isn’t the greatest for any gaming franchise, nevermind one with the controversy and fan base that GTA has built up. Cutting out half of your potential market (let’s face it, not all of us are rich enough to buy both a 360 and a PS3) just doesn’t make sense to me.

It’s not going to sway my decision about console purchases, I can definitely do without CJ and crew, but it’s definite food for thought. Huge coup for the PS3 and an interesting play by one of the more influential developers.

“Rockstar was a little too amped up on coffee.”

    mod? ;)

Noooooooo… This was one of the few things that pissed me off about the Xbox: late releases of GTA games.

I’m not a GTA psychotic, but I do enjoy the freeform nature and the additions Rockstar makes with each release (LOVED the bicycle and jets and skydiving in this one).

Bleh. Hoping this turns out to be false. Seems to me it’d be a stupid move on Rockstar’s part if they did this, unless Sony gave them 100M$.

Haha Matt! Exactly. I call it Hyper Horny Programmer, or HYP for short.

Jeremy: I’m disappointed by the news as well. I’m not sure how GTA would benefit from such a deal. Hopefully it’s all smoke and mirrors :)
