GTD: What doesn’t work
What’s The Next Action has an excellent post about five systems of GTD that gained a little traction and then were ditched. This rings pretty true for me…I could (and maybe should) write a similar list. I bet lots of people have lists like this.
This is part of both the fun and the frustration of GTD for me. It’s so personalizable (that’s not a real word, is it?) that there’s probably no end to the ways that we can implement GTD. I have tried a bunch of stuff too, but it always seems like a heavy reliance on paper and folders is the way to go.
If personalizable is not a word I think it should be! Thanks for your link. I feel more and more towards paper as well but most of projects are digitally driven.
I think almost everyone that has successfully implemented GTD has gone through several rounds of tweaks and/or full on retooling. About once a year I fall off the wagon. This is always an opportunity to evaluate what aspects caused me to backslide. Make changes and back on the wagon. My final solution (for now) utilizes My Life Organized (MLO) and a self made daily planner. I can’t say enough good things about MLO.
