Guild Wars: “My Humps”
For those of you who have a rough grasp on the pop culture world away from your computer (blasphemy!), I have no doubt that your mind has been poisoned, at one time or another, by the vacuous waste of airtime that is the Black-Eyed Peas “My Humps”. It, quite literally, might be the most awful song ever released to mainstream music. The video can be seen on YouTube.com here. Don’t blame me if your neurons shrivel and die in a screaming mass of grey matter.
Like all strange little phenomena do, “My Humps” caught the attention of that wacky band of MMO players (Guild Wars in this case) who feel that every song ever created must be turned into an in-game musical bonanza. It’s good for a laugh, and will make you appreciate the link at the bottom of this post even more.
Still, the Guild Wars version gets second prize in the parody department to, of all people, Alanis Morrissette. Her version of “My Humps” is priceless. Listening to her say “icies”, “lady lumps”, and “my humps” single-handedly turned my day to happy. Apparently Fergie was so tickled by the Morrissette version that she sent Alanis a cake in the shape of a butt, declaring: “Alanis, you’re a genius. Love, Fergie.”

God If I hear this song one more time….but a virtual version of any horrible popular culture songs or events is just embarrassing to even watch!

G.K – just imagine looking back on the song in 10 years, and how we’ll have to explain to the “young folks” as to how that was even vaguely cool. It’ll be like Ace of Base all over again.
