The first band specific title for the phenomenon that is Guitar Hero has been announced, and the band is … Aerosmith. And there is a chorus of boos and cheers from the audience. Personally, I love Aerosmith, but releasing a band-specific anything is kind of risky. I suppose that if you’re absolutely set on going with one band, then Aerosmith is a pretty safe bet.

So what can you expect from this Guitar Hero: Aerosmith edition? Well, it looks like gamers will get to relive the band’s road to glory. Starting from the first gig and going on from there, progressing steadily through the band’s career.

In celebration, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock fans can download Aerosmith’s “Dream On” for free on the Xbox Live Marketplace. But hurry, the offer ends February 18th. You can also get it on the PlayStation Store for those of you with PS3s.

The Aerosmith game is being released across all three next-gen platforms.
