Habbo Furniture Heist Foiled By Dutch Authorities

I have no idea why this isn’t headline BBC newshabbohotel.gif

Apparently the police force in Amsterdam has an eye on the online realm, because they’re looking to bring theft charges against the user of an account accused of scamming other Habbo Hotel residents out of their hard-earned furniture items.

The alleged offender conned fellow players out of their login information and then proceeded to steal items valued at USD $ 1400.

The authorities seem excited, but bemused by the whole thing, on one hand claiming that the charges, essentially for virtual theft, are a first for the online community while simultaneously expressing some uncertainty over how the case should be built and properly prosecuted. Glad they’re spending their resources on such important matters.
