Hansbrough Sits And UNC Still Wins

The almost around the clock updates by the national college basketball media this week on whether or not the injured Tyler Hansbrough would play, and if it meant the end of the world as we know it for the number one ranked Tar Heels was put to rest today.

North Carolina easily defeated Pennsylvania 86-71 in its season opener at Chapel Hill.

Freshman Tyler Zeller filled in admirably for Hansbrough scoring 18 points. He hit 8 of 10 from the free throw line and knocked down 5 of 8 from the field.

North Carolina was also without seniors Bobby Frasor and Marcus Ginyard because of injuries.

But no worries. These are the Tar Heels we’re talking about!

Freshman Ed Davis filled in to score 10 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in 22 minutes, and Deon Thompson added 17 points.

Tyler Bernardini scored 26 points to lead Pennsylvania (what is up with the name Tyler these days?!).

So see Tar Heel fan. Everything will be just fine.
