July 4, 2008 by Sandy Mitchell

Brendan Hansen, until a month ago the world record holder in the men’s 200m breast stroke, finished fourth last night at the Olympic Qualifying Meet in Omaha, two places behind what he needed to compete in the Olympics in that event. He was bested by his training partners, Scott Span and Eric Shanteau.

Hansen has already earned a ticket to Beijing by qualifying first in the men’s 100m breast stroke.
