Happy New Year Astro Buffs!
As you read this, I’m on the road. Interstate 80 to be precise, with a truck load of books, telescopes, computers and other science hoo-hahs I depend on to do my job.
If you’ve never been, I-80 is about as close to driving on a road on Mars as I could imagine, especially the parts in Nebraska.
Anyway, I’m heading off to Illinois after a holiday at home filled with Colorado snow, prime rib on Christmas Eve and uhhh, packing a truck.
I’m thinking about you though. Right now, this minute, on a lonely Nebraska highway (or maybe in Iowa, depending on when you read this), and I’m wishing you a great New Year.
I’m a lucky man. I have everything I want in life.
And I want you to have it too. A perfect life, that is. YOUR OWN perfect life. You’re not gettin’ mine.
I think New Year’s Eve is the perfect time for bloggers who are so inclined to try their hand at blogging drunk. If I weren’t driving, I’d consider it. Maybe next year.
Happy New Year to all you Astronomy Buffs (I raise my stainless steel commuter mug full of truck stop coffee), here’s to a healthy, happy and prosperous 365 days. Cheers.
No more than that though. 365 days of happiness and prosperity are plenty for now, I’m not wishing you more than that at one time. Like an NSF review, we’ll revisit this every year at the same time.

Right back at ya! Its been an awesome year as my interest in astronomy has just taken off, so thanks to your youtube videos and this blog…
As a scotsman, their is no other way to celebrate New Year than, em, er, um PISHED!
Email me your postal address, I have a bottle of single malt whisky from scotland for you as a huge thanks… :)
Happy New Year
Samuel
There are 366 days this year. :p
Happy new year tony! and don’t forget to post new videos to youtube during 2008!
Hi Samuel, thanks so much for the offer! I can’t think of anything better than a single malt whisky from Scotland. You don’t have to thank me though, having readers like you is thanks enough…
Ed: Yes, we have an extra day this year, we’ll have an extra day for observing in February…
Hi Melker: Back at ya, and yes I’ll start posting, probably later this month after I get settled in to my new surroundings in Illinois. I’ve been getting some irritated emails from Space Fans on YouTube, so I haven’t forgotten.
The one day we won’t be happy would be Election Day?
I have driven that stretch several times and there is really nothing else like it. Especially Nebraska where, at times, you think you see the back of your own head in the distance. Cheers to your adventure, being present and Happy New Year!
