e Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince video game will be released tomorrow and will be available on the following platforms: Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, Wii, Xbox 360 and Mobile. I’m very excited about the game (and the movie!) and I’m equally glad that the actors are lending their voices to the game.
Harry Potter and his friends return to Hogwarts for their sixth year. Despite the threat from Voldemort and the Death Eaters, many of the students go on with their classes as usual so gamers will get the chance to practice their dueling skills, mix magical potions, play Quidditch and explore the grounds.
From the trailer, it looks similar to its predecessor, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, but this version promises to deliver “the most complete Hogwarts ever” which makes me happy because I thought the second and third games were too limited. It also will include locations that we’ve never seen in a Harry Potter game before (which will be consistent with the movie’s plot).
Of course, each platform will have different features. If you play it on the Nintendo Wii, you will get to use the Wii Remote (as you did in OOTP) to use your wand and to play Quidditch. Unfortunately, the game will not be compatible with the new Wii MotionPlus add-on. On Nintendo DS, you will have access to mini-games and you will use the Stylus for your wand work. The PS3 version will incorporate Dualshock 3 vibration.
