KORAT: A dream came true for Malaysian pistol shooter Hasli Izwan Amir Hasan when he made the cut for the Beijing Olympics from the Asian Championships in Kuwait on Sunday.

The 30-year-old Hasli earned the ticket in style, bagging the silver in the 25m rapid fire pistol event and breaking his own national record. The achievement makes him the first Malaysian shooter to qualify for the Olympics on merit.

Previous Malaysian shooters who featured in the Olympics did so on wild cards.

I reckon Hasli should be utterly proud of himself esp when he shot 195.6 to secure second spot on 776.6, which equaled his national record. The article mentioned that this win is the most memorable moment in his career. Hasli had won Commonwealth Games bronze and SEA Games gold medals.

Onwards to the Olympics. Congrats, mate!
