Hasselt Cup is No More

Due to the new WTA rules which have lowered the number of events players must participate, Belgium has dropped the Hassalt Cup. The logic surrounding this decision is that top players will probably skip right over the Hasselt Cup anyway. Top players equal big bucks. Without the big bucks, it’s simply not worth it.

“It’s no longer being organised because of the new regulation from the WTA which makes it very difficult to attract top players to tier three tournaments and no longer financially viable,” Hasselt Cup tournament director Bob Verbeek said.
