When you’re a one man (or woman) show, and you can’t always be there to answer the phone. One thing you might consider to help your clients see you as more professional, and easier to communicate with is a virtual receptionist, or a phone service. Someone to answer the phone and give that personal touch, when you can’t.

People don’t like to talk to an answering machine, but sometimes you’re business keeps you from answering the phone. If you have to travel, or have quiet time to get your work done it would be nice too rely on someone else to answer the phones once in a while.
Even if you only have one or two employees you can find virtual phone service companies that will help you set up a voice mailbox system, professional greeting, and a dial by name directory. One of those companies is My1Voice. They specialize in phone systems for small businesses.
Your small business doesn’t have to put out a large sum of cash for a sophisticated phone system, or pay someone just to answer it. You can pay a virtual phone service a flat per month fee to handle your phone calls for you, or to help you route them to the correct person inside your small business.
