Henin Rolls at Sony Ericsson

I think it is easy for the men’s game to dwarf the women’s. It is faster, more powerful, more court-hitting moves. It’s understandable really – we are action junkies. But all that aside, the women’s game of tennis deserves recognition and thus, I am here to do so.

At the season-ending Sony Ericsson Championships, Justine Henin is one match into defending her title. The world No. 1 recorded a 6-1, 7-6 (4) victory over seventh-ranked Anna Chakvetadze to move on in the round-robin play in the yellow group.

Also moving on was Maria Sharapova and Ana Ivanovic.

I’ve been backing Henin for a long time. She’s got the goods. She is a composed and talented player. I’d like to see her uphold her title. But – I guess on any given day, any other player can be beaten. That’s what is so beautiful about this game!
