Holy Poop, Another Dignified Ad

Once in a while I regain confidence that Sony knows what it’s doing.

I personally love this ad because (to be honest) I don’t enjoy online gameplay very much. I never last at MMORPGs. My brother’s still telling me to get the hell on Halo 3 multiplayer. I’ve always been that kid who brings home reportcards that say, “Nadia is weird and doesn’t want to play with anyone.” Nothing’s changed, I guess. I just associate the online community with a lot of pwning and swearing and n00bs. If I want that, I can walk outside.

The Wii doesn’t exactly have it right, either. “Everyone, wear these gags and blindfolds.”

The PSN isn’t exactly a utopia of harmony, but this ad at least assures me that I can interact with dignified people of all genders (yes, all genders!) and races. It adopts the worldwide appeal of Wii ads without completely ripping them off.

At any rate, it’s better than this.

Halo 3 online is fun for a few hours at a time if you play with people you know or turn the microphone off. Nobody else will have any interest in communicating as a team or where to position everyone to win the map.

What they WILL talk about is which team you play for — SEXUALLY — and what positions you use when you’re with a member of your own gender. SEXUALLY.

The worst thing to happen recently was during a family gathering last weekend, where me and my father were watching my brother play Uno with his webcam on. One of the other people he was playing with (who sounded like the chocolate milk kid) saw my father and loudly shouted “Who is that fat #*@$?”

Which left my dad sitting there, embarassed and sad while the little bastard felt pleased with himself.

Wow, what a little dick. XD I wonder how my father would’ve reacted. He’s really good at recovering himself in those situations: He’s a salesman and he’s had kids tell him stories about their dads commiting suicide.

The only online game I got into for an extended period of time was Gunbound. I used to play it with my IRC friends.
