In a world where going green has become as trendy as it is environmentally friendly, the first automaker to introduce practical electric vehicles stands to make a pretty penny. Honda has thrown its hat into the electric car ring, stating in a report that it hopes to introduce electric vehicles to the United States early next decade.
Honda is the second-largest automaker in Japan and it has recently shifted its focus from gas-electric hybrids to all-electric vehicles, hoping to unveil a prototype at October’s Tokyo Motor Show. According to a Honda spokesperson, the company has not yet decided on a release date for its electric vehicles, but it has begun development.
As one of the world’s most significant auto markets, the United States commands plenty of attention from automakers, meaning that the U.S.’s renewed commitment to environmental friendliness has companies like Honda rapidly working toward a practical zero-emission vehicle. While several automakers have already released significantly more fuel-efficient vehicles, few have really caught on or become practical enough for widespread usage.
