Honeywell, a Fortune 500 company with more than 120,000 employees, said that a recent announcement by the U.S. Air Force will result in the company receiving more than $400 million in orders. The orders will be in the form of TPE331-10 engines that will be needed to make the nearly 320 MQ-9 Reaper aircraft that the Air Force contracted to purchase.

Siad Garrett Mikita of Honeywell Aerospace: “The Honeywell TPE331-10 engine delivers the power combined with low fuel consumption the Reaper needs to complete its missions associated with long-range, long-loiter and heavy-hauling capability. Honeywell has been integrally involved in equipping Unmanned Air Vehicles across several programs since their inception, including the USAF’s Predator and Reaper.”

Honeywell claims to have produced in excess of 13,000 TPE331 engines since 1962. Of those 13,000, more than 80% are still in use.

Based in Morristown, New Jersey, Honeywell was founded in 1906. As of 2007, the company reportedly had revenue of about $36 billion.
