How can you use PR to sell a house

First, you need to know, I am NOT a real estate agent or broker. (And in this market, I am very grateful for that.)

However, I am selling my house. It’s a beautiful 1853 Victorian brownstone in Albany, NY. And as an experiment, I’ve been using some PR techniques that many real estate professionals use, as well as a couple of my own, to get the word out:

  • I bought a keyword-rich domain name and created a small website for it.
  • I’ve been posting on craigslist. I’ve written several different promotional ads and posting them on various days and times.
  • I’ve used a cool free real estate feature called postlets.
  • I’ve created a virtual tour using Photobucket.
  • I’ve created fliers and postcards to hand out to people who may know people looking to move.

Now, I’, trying to come up with an idea for a press release… but am coming up blank.  Perhaps a pitch on selling in a bad economy may work, but I want something meatier.

What do you think?  Do you have any ideas I should be using?

I don’t think any of your potential buyers will be reading press releases? Perhaps you’ve already done all you could and now it’s time to just sell?

vflyer.com, trulia.com, zillow.com are all excellent resources for you
