I didn't like the new Levi ad, but maybe I'm too old. Is that really what the younger generation is attracted to in an ad?

I was wondering how companies who want to engage bloggers could demonstrate value to bloggers and their sites. Any relevant links would be most appreciated. Also, thanks for the overview on blogger etiquette and respect. It seems like the kind of common sense that is easy to lose sight of when one becomes single-minded on building their brand and company.

Often people as well as companies are only interested in what's in it for them. The truth is when someone works hard to create a blog they put their energy and passion into creating something of value. They want it to read and appreciated. They want a following and it is far easier to build something of value and get it seen in mass when everyone attempts to pay it forward. Often success can come as a result of a small community of people doing the right thing. Thanks for writing this post and let us go out and change the world, through our words and the passion we have in our hearts.

Hi Rachel,

I wanted to thank you so much for explaining the etiquette required for approaching bloggers. I don't blog and didn't even realise that you can advertise on blog sites. I have a lot to learn. :-( I have created a cool jewelry site and am doing research in how not to follow through with blogging and advertising. (Link to my website purposely not added out of respect to you).

I just really really wanted to thank you for the advice. It just the basics of old fashioned personal respect and politeness isn't it. That makes life so easy. :-)

I keep looking at it and just groaning; it is so badly done it's embarassing. I wonder how many rounds of copy approval it went through, it just has that bright and sparkly feel of email by committee. It's not too hard to learn this stuff these days if you put your mind to it.

That's shockingly poorly done. It's also pretty damn close to the legal definition of spam.

They ought to be able to do better really.
