How to become a professional tennis player

Considering I haven’t even been able to hit the courts for my own amatuer level of play (thank you, Pacific Northwest…), it certainly isn’t my wisdom that comes to the fore in this edition of Rackets and Balls. The Journeyman, however, gives a few tips and pointers on ways to make it on the pro tour.

Mark Keil sums up what it takes in a few short paragraphs for the Tennis Grand Stand. He doesn’t say anything profound; actually I could have come up with everything he did but he beat me to it. If I’ve learned one thing in my entire life it’s that reinventing the wheel is worthless. So I’m just taking Keil’s wheel and giving it some love here.

So if you wanna be a professional tennis player, check out the goods and see how far you’ve got to go before you probably fail.

Hey, I’m a realist, what can I say!

I have to totally disagree with this realist… If you work hard you can achieve anything, look at James Blake when he was young he had Scoliosis, but did that stop him from becoming what he wanted to be? Ofcourse your not going to get anywhere if you dont work hard, if you do you will get there if you HAVE THE WILL like James Blake. Roger Federer lost in 14 initial matches in 2000 and now just look at him… Way to encourage kids Mark…
