How to Get Hired by an Online Startup

If it is your dream to work for an online startup company, there are a few tips you should follow to give yourself the best chance to get hired. An online startup isn’t your typical working environment. Action is fast paced and the hours are often long and intense. However, being a part of an online startup can be highly rewarding if the startup succeeds.

How should you go about getting hired by an online startup? Here are a few tips:

Be technically savvy
Even if you want an entry level job, you will want to show a relatively high level of technical savvy in your interview. You don’t necessarily need to go to show a degree but you should at least be able to show a blog or a website you created. That could separate you from the pack.

Be energetic
Those hiring at online startup companies know that they need energetic employees. Things can get frenetic and startups need employees who can hang at any pace.

Be creative salary-wise
Many startup companies don’t have a lot of money to be handing out to new employees. However, you may be able to get stock options, scheduled bonuses or other perks that could help make up for any initial dip in salary.

Show a willingness to learn
Online startup companies need people who are willing to learn and people who are creative. While creativity is difficult to prove in an interview format, a willingness to learn is a trait that can be stressed.
