How to Use Facebook to Market and Grow Your eBay Business

By now you have heard that Facebook, the popular social utility, “connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around them.” It is free, and all that is required to join is a valid email address.
A little history – Facebook started as a way for college students to connect with each other online. It has grown and evolved into a valuable business tool, and the majority of users are over the age of 30. With an estimated 60 million members, Facebook has become the place to network for business.
If you are an eBay seller, you need to be networking on Facebook. You can add the eBay Facebook Application to your profile so other users can see what you sell. But there is a trick. Network with people in your buying audience. For example, let’s say Jane sells custom made tennis racquet covers. She needs to join groups that discuss playing tennis, tennis history, Wimbledon, professional tennis player fan clubs, etc. She needs to put herself in front of an audience that will be interested in her product.
Another example, let’s say Bob sells his fantastic gourmet seasoning rub. He needs to join groups that discuss cooking, barbeque, grilling, restaurants, etc. The key is to expose yourself, and your product, to people who may be interested in buying it.
I can’t stress enough the need to put yourself in front of your customer audience, network and be active, and the audience should NOT BE OTHER EBAY SELLERS! Other sellers don’t care what you are selling, they just want you to buy what they have. Get out there in front of the millions of potential customers on Facebook and start networking!
