Tom Sawyer, Management Genius

November 5, 2008 by Phil Gerbyshak

“Good management is the art of making problems so interesting and their solutions so constructive that everyone wants to get to work and deal with them.” – Paul Hawken

I came across this quote today, and it made me think a lot about what my role is as manager. It sounds to me like exactly what Huck Finn Tom Sawyer did to get folks to paint his picket fence.

Do you think this sums up management, or do you think this is just a bunch of hooey?

Fact or Crap, let me know!

It was Tom Sawyer that conned his friends into painting his aunt’s fence.

    Fact, definitely fact.

I guess in simplified terms, it’s a relevant and insightful quote.

Of course we all know that management is more than a simple 26 word sentence, but it’s a start :)

  4. Veronica says:

It’s a fact or a crap completely depends on you and your work. The way you handle the situation and how react to it.
