Hunter Pence: “I did not consume any alcohol”

I had an accident this week and I wanted to set the record straight on what really happened. Despite the assumptions, I wanted to let everyone know that I did not consume any alcohol that evening.
I had just come home from dinner with some friends, and decided to jump in the hot tub to loosen up my muscles before bed. As we were walking out to the hot tub, I took about three steps toward the tub (leaving the door open behind me) and decided I needed to use the restroom before hopping into the hot water … I did not realize that my friend had closed the door behind me.
Because the ground was cold outside and I was barefoot, I turned around quickly to run inside. As I tried to hop inside from the step, I went straight through the glass door. It all happened so fast that I am just going to have to slow down and be more cautious in the future. The good news is that I will be back on the field soon and I did not have any severe injuries.

you can’t change the way you are some people just seem to always be running in to things. just don’t do it during the season. ;)
Ouch! How many stitches did you end up getting?
I didn’t even jump to the assumption that alcohol was involved. After seeing you slam full-speed into the right field fence, in that last series against the Brewers, I kinda got the feeling you were a bit clumsy (or somewhat oblivious to fixed boundaries). Not that I’m making fun of you… I myself frequently walk into walls and doorframes. Telling you to please be careful next time won’t do much but, please be careful next time.

Just glad you are alright, Hunter! I have a family member who did the exact same thing! It happens and you certainly don’t need to have consumed any alcohol!
