I Might Have a Mutiny on My Hands

I have an interesting/annoying issue going on with my PS3, Steve.
Yes. I named my PS3. Go ahead and laugh. I’ll wait.
Better?
Back to the issue.
When we lived in Arkansas, I was able to mess around on the internet on my laptop via our wireless connection AND play Call of Duty: 4 online with no issues. That way, I could take notes online and play my game and generally be one happy camper. We never had a connectivity issue.
Now that we’ve moved to Alabama, I cannot be online with my laptop and be online on Steve at the same time. It doesn’t matter if I just connect the PS3 and then leave it alone while I work online or if I try to play a game on Steve and use my laptop at the same time.
I’m not allowed.
I don’t like not being allowed to do something by my electronic gadgets. I’M the boss and my gadgets should listen to me. Right?
I fear a mutiny.
Has anyone else had a similar issue?
All of our settings are the same. All of our hardware is the same. The only thing that has changed is the ISP. Might that be the issue?
I’ll wait here with a can of Airduster and a really big magnet and hope that one of you has a solution.
